New partnership: University of Eastern Finland

CECE is the Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy based at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) and it brings together multidisciplinary research on sustainable circular economy, conducted in cooperation with Finnish and international research units. It is also the most recent addition the the NCH Partnership Programme.

The UEF Research Center for Sustainable Circular Economy is a multidisciplinary academic research, education and development unit whose mission is to promote research of sustainable circular economy, train circular economy experts and accelerate the social transformation of the sustainable circular economy in Finland and internationally. The Research Center produces knowledge on the circular economy as an economic, social, and cultural transformation. Its projects explore circular economy solutions for plastics and microplastics, critical raw materials, sustainability change for businesses, cities and society, and social entrepreneurship.

“The CECE research group at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) produces multidisciplinary and actionable research to catalyse sustainability transition through circular economy. The centre generates cross-disciplinary understanding to support the implementation of circular economy in society. The group is composed of researchers interested in context-sensitive research; they are experienced in conducting research in close collaboration with companies, the public, and third-sector partners,” says Hanna Lehtimäki, Professor of Innovation Management at the University of Eastern Finland.

She points out that “We realise the urgency and the complexity of circularity and circular solutions, and also recognise the need for holistic approaches to emerging themes, aspects, and issues related to these challenges. We seek to catalyse the sustainability transition through research and collaboration with societal actors. We strive for co-created, best-practice solutions driven by scholarly evidence and insights.”

We are very glad to add the CECE research group to the growing network of academic institutions adding their knowledge and expertise to the NCH Partnership Programme.

Welcome CECE research group and the University of Eastern Finland!
