New partnership: Kaunas University of Technology

Kaunas University of Technology is a public research university located in Kaunas, Lithuania. Since 1922, KTU has been one of Lithuania's top science education centres. Its Institute of Environmental Engineering conducts research in the fields of sustainable development and environmental protection. The backbone of the Institute of Environmental Engineering’s activities and research lies in practical engineering, management and political solutions to the issues of environmental quality. Now, KTU is also the newest member of the Nordic Circular Hotspot Partnership Programme.

Kaunas University of Technology’s Institute of Environmental Engineering is a centre for sustainable development of industry and business, which initiates and implements positive changes that affect people's behaviour and technological progress. The Institute cooperates with industry, business, government and public sectors by encouraging changes in physical infrastructure and social capital, promoting a sustainable environment that motivates sustainable lifestyle and reduces climate change.

"We at Kaunas University of Technology are excited to join the Nordic Circularity Hotspot. We believe this is a great match because we are really passionate about working on sustainability — making sure we use resources wisely and take care of our planet. Our main approach to circularity is about bringing together different areas of study and research and turning ideas into real-world solutions. This helps our students and partners from industry, business and government learn not just in theory but also in practice how to create a future where we reuse and recycle more, reducing waste and harm to the environment. Being part of the Nordic Circular Hotspot gives us a chance to share knowledge, learn from others, and be part of a bigger movement towards a sustainable world," states Professor Žaneta Stasiškienė, Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at KTU.

We look forward to working with KTU to accelerate the circular transition and build necessary bridges between the Nordic and Baltic regions when it comes to circularity and sustainability. Welcome to the NCH!
