Constructing Circularity—The New Built Environment in the Nordics
The building, construction and real estate industry globally accounts for 40% of emissions, resource use and energy consumption. This gives it a key role in the circular transition and is one of the reasons why the Nordic Circular Hotspot has chosen it as the focus of this pilot Transition Group.
The aim of this working group is to take the transitional lead for the Nordics, unify the city development and construction industries, and gather relevant insights and understanding to set a roadmap for an accelerated circular transition of these industries in the Nordics.
In practice, the meetings will use the Sprint methodology and begin by defining and mapping an action plan. The longer-term aspiration is that this group can function as a stepping stone for establishing a consortium that can keep working on innovation and solutions. The initial results will be delivered at the Nordic Circular Summit in November.
The Nordic Circular Hotspot co-leader and facilitator for this Transition Group is Anett Andreassen. She has previously worked for Statsbygg, the Norwegian government’s building commissioner, property manager and developer, where she spent 16 years in various roles ranging from strategy, finance management, construction projects, property management and, in recent years, the director of digitalisation and development. This gives her a deep understanding of the building industry and its barriers and opportunities when it comes to circularity.
